breaking news
good americans will think of this upon reflection in a much better and far off time than this: it was 2002, what the fuck were miners doing in a coal mine in 2002.

one would think with the agony of the industrial age and the coming and/or argument for the passing of the technology age that the minds used to make those decompression chambers used to 'bring back' the miners would render minning a completely un-life threatening task for humans.

latch to, swing
out on planets of afternoons and humidty, a pencil is stuck behind one's ear. conditionally there since a quarter was placed on a counter. boxed in old cardboard, used for backing framed 'things'. lead to paper occasionally, the sole duty to rest behind either of the two ears. later upon dinner and dark, one goes to retrieve said utencil, failing, no doubt. it occurs to one why it is prudent to wear watches, providing more than time kept.

baseball's latest and increasingly trivial downfall has now been diagnosed. surfing the awful digital cable service provided to the folks in this house (comcast) and coming upon a sliver of the espn classic '1985: year in sports retrospective' or something of that sort, it re-occurs to this writer that wrigley field didn't see a night baseball game until the summer of said year.

being from the new york area the impression upon this 'big' fan of the game that no other fan has suffered more than that of the "sawx" fan proves a false label. the cubbies have not seen a world series game since '45. baseball, as a game of interest, started to become less relevant the season the cubs played 16 home games at night. someone smarter than the author will have some sort of mind numbing statistic or some other science to prove so. i would assume that person has never had their bare feet in the grass after removing their cleats.

everyone digs atari......well check it. old atari sketches. dig the outfits that the designers had those smokin' chicks rockin' out with. if a fraction of a fraction of the women i ever see in my life were to dress like that.....ooooh [via nubbin]

and in the not so crazy conspiracy theory department is this. at the time of crash flight 93 the pictures that were being shown to us on tv just didn't make sense. the crash site just looked like a big hole in the earth compared with similar crash sites, usually a wing or something that at least looked like a plane would be somewhat recognizable. not the case, at least as far as i could see. there's much more on that site than that though so click it.

things dreamed
all the unorganized clutter overwhelms me. my car is a huge trash heap with half smoked blunts and cigarette wrappers. the empty poland spring bottles have reached a critical mass. the old new york times piled on top of each other. i try to move it all to the back seat but it's too full back there. there's no place to put it all. i slam the door frustrated that i can't drive because i've been clutter-fied.

now's the time when i'm supposed to think about all the things i've been trying to forget about. the unpaid parking tickets, the bills, my laundry piled up to the ceiling, putting the records back in order, filling out that god damned insurance questionnaire, calling back all those unanswered messages, the old email.

you would have thought i would have woke up by now. no, it goes on.

i'm moving but standing perfectly still and some otherworldly prince song plays in the background

if she could be muse to the pharaoh, someday she might be queen

the underdog
hello bud selig......this is what revenue sharing and salary caps can do for you. a team that was 5-11 last year won the super bowl. spring training starts in 11 days and every team, except one (read: Yankees), has absolutely no shot at winning a world series.

as for the patriots......i was thinking last night during the game how sports always gives the viewer a hope that maybe *your* team is going to win despite the long odds. unfortunately this is not how politics works. no long shots ever become president. no enron executive is ever going to see jail time.

the commercials……that one about buying illegal drugs supports terrorism….yeah that one. way to go dubya….way to waste 3.5 million dollars we earned to tell us that. wouldn’t it be cheaper to just make it legal so we can grow it and not support the taliban.

and a shout out to mlife.com…..great marketing folks…..to bad your website was down for much of the super bowl.
